Forestry railways were once widespread across Europe, especially in the Carpathian Mountains. They survived longer than anywhere else till the 90ies. The economic changes since had a devastating impact on these narrow gauge railways, they were entirely decommissioned and closed. Though some of them managed to survive and are still operating due to private support.
Riding the little steam forestry trains alongside romantic, wild valleys with numerous curves, bridges and tunnels – in the very heart of Wild Carpathians – is an unique experience your will remember all your life.
